Lumen ‘Escence’ 2020

Lumen Escence is the first orange wine ever produced by Lumen. We picked our favorite Pinot Gris at Sierra Madre Vineyard a few weeks early, which means it had low sugars and high acidity, then fermented on the skins for a full 12 days. The resulting wine is full of character: meyer lemon, orange zest, grapefruit rind and wet stone minerality.

Tasting Notes: Pale copper/salmon color.  Nose:  Ripe golden apple, pear, candied lemon, honeysuckle, waxy, blanched nut, fennel frond.  Palate:  Ripe strawberries and cream, lively and creamy all at once.  Rich mid-palate with tons of snap and vigor.  Honeysuckle, ginger and apple skin all merge on the palate.  Just the slightest grip from the skin contact.  -AA
